Our recipes have been carefully created to exclude all E numbers, preservatives, colours, sweeteners & flavourings. All of our sauces are freeze thaw stable.

Bespoke recipe development
Our customers are always looking to gain competitive advantage by introducing new products with the best chance of success. Our NPD Team will work closely and continuously with all customers to help in their success.
Bespoke portion sizes & shapes
If you require a portion size or shape to meet your specific processing criteria or pack appearance then we are happy to look at developing something to suit. We can start on a trial basis to ensure that the tooling gives the desired result, before committing to expenditure on a full production machine. This also allows us to offer "specials" for relatively small / infrequent product runs, where the cost of full tooling may not be justified.
Bespoke Pack Formats
Please see our "Pack Formats" page for details of our current options. However, if you need something beyond the range shown, please speak to us. Sometimes a small change can make life a lot easier at the point of use – for example a pack weight that fits with your own batch sizes, reducing the amount of preparation required. Often, these types of change will not make a material difference at our stage of the process – one of the benefits of the bespoke service we offer.
Order Sizes
Minimum order sizes at the early stages of a product life should not be too rigid if the product launch is to succeed. We work closely with customers to help them build to regular order sizes that are mutually efficient.
Outside Stock Location
Sometimes a customer needs stock held at an outside location, like an outside store site or independent distribution depot. Maybe special delivery timings or frequencies are important. We will investigate any logistical need.
Reserve Stockholding
Fast moving products, ones on promotion, or where customer storage is limited may require us to keep a buffer stock at Markus, underwritten by the customer.
Please feel free to put "can you do…" questions to us. We will always give serious consideration to this type of enquiry to see if it could be accommodated in or even added to our current resources.
There are never problems, only solutions.
At Markus we understand the demands of the multiples / markets / accreditation bodies etc. in terms of lead time and detail required for product technical information. As nothing we develop or supply is "off the shelf", and every customer’s / retailer’s requirements vary, we are continuing to invest in software systems that are providing faster creation of this information. In the very near future, we should be able to turn around a detailed product specification on the same day that the development recipe is created – our ultimate aim is to achieve this faster than the development team can make the sample!
We are also willing to work with you on product and process development. For example, we have modified the viscosity of both oil and sauce products (sometimes more than once!) to suit customer’s process equipment. We have changed bulk products to portioned to assist with weight control and reduction of wastage. We have carried out trials with equipment manufacturers to develop products which their equipment can then automate the application of. If there is an aspect of your processing of our product that you feel could work better, then please raise it with us. The more we understand about what will work for you, the better we are placed to meet that.
We have the facilities and capacity available to pack / re-pack and/or further process products on your behalf.
Our processes include:
- Cryogenic (liquid nitrogen) freezing - for individually quick freezing of relatively small items ( as a guide, typical times from +15℃ to -20℃ are around 3 to 5 minutes)
- Sachet packing - we can pack a wide range of product types from liquids, pastes, crumbs, dry mixes to grated and diced cheeses.
Pack weights can range from 10g to 1Kg. Single colour printing is available on line, and pre-printed films can be sourced if required. Gusseted sachets also available. - Bulk mixing and blending - we have various types of mixer available, capable of blending solid, liquid and loose mixes with batch capacities of 100 to 500Kg. Pack formats can be accommodated from poly lined box to bag in box and IBC/pallecons.
- Portioning - we can portion suitable products to required weight, shape and size for own use or as specified.
